Combined Application of Rice Husk Biochar and Lime Increases Phosphorus Availability and Maize Yield in an Acidic Soil

Biochar, a pyrogenic carbon, has been receiving incremental attention for potential contribution to soil health, agricultural productivity enhancement while mitigating climate change by sequestering carbon and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, it is not well-known us how far rice husk biochar (RHB) application rates could increase phosphorus (P) bioavailability plant performance when co-applied with P lime. Here, we present data of pot experiment consisting eleven treatments evaluate RHB, lime, effect on availability, CO2 emission, nutrient uptake, yield maize. Co-application RHB (10 15 t ha−1) lime (100% 75%) was made different (100%, 75%, 50%). Our result revealed that, at harvest, the combined fertilizer significantly increased pH, availability decreased Al Fe toxicity relative control increasing maize yield. The maximum pH 36.75%, highest available 158.75%, whilst, exchangeable content reduced 96.84% compared treatment. difference in biomass production among were minimal, largest grain (15.50 recorded T6 (75% + 10 ha−1 100% Triple superphosphate). increment have occurred due mediated changes properties, including P, other nutrients. This then uptake production. results suggest that bring favorable properties sacrificing some from soils.
